The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, who were already after Beyoncé for wearing a fur coat to the Inauguration, disapproved of the singer's Super Bowl attire — even though they were probably seat-dancing the entire time. Among the things-once-living that designer Rubin Singer sewed into a motorcycle jacket and bodysuit with derrière doily: pythons, iguanas, and cows. PETA released the following statement to the Daily News:
We would take a bet that if Beyoncé watched our video exposés, she'd probably not want to be seen again in anything made of snakes, lizards, rabbits or other animals who died painfully. Today's fashions are trending toward humane vegan options, and Beyoncé's Super Bowl outfit missed the mark on that score.
How quickly Kelly and Michelle are (again) forgotten!
So, if Beyoncé didn't win the Super Bowl, who did? The Ravens? Nay, the chimpanzees. In a blog post on its website, PETA writes, "No great apes were used in any Super Bowl commercial this year, the first year since all the top 10 U.S. advertising agencies pledged never to use great apes in their advertising." That's not to say the chimps didn't break out of their CareerBuilder–sponsored cages and play with the Superdome light switches, in which case, they're still winners.
