We suppose if we were celebrities, with unlimited access to anything we wanted to wear, we’d eventually get bored of the same old gowns and cocktail dresses.
Apparently, that’s what happened to Miley Cyrus, Rihanna and Amanda Seyfried, all of whom have recently forgone designers’ womenswear collections for something a little different: pieces literally borrowed from the boys.
This weekend, Cyrus tweeted a shot of herself in her signature crop top, sexy heels and a pair of men’s leather basketball shorts. “Girl in boys clothing,” she wrote.

But Cyrus is hardly the first star to have shopped a designer’s menswear collection. Rihanna has been doing it for months, wearing an Acne suit in December. This weekend, she hit a Lakers game in a pair of heavy metal-embroidered sweatpants from Kokon To Zai (which she may or may not have borrowed from Kanye West).
But though we expect such gender-bending sartorial hijinks from fashion-forward stars like Cyrus and Rihanna, this trend has expanded to more conventional dressers like Seyfried, who flew back from Paris Fashion Week in a cozy-looking religious motif sweatshirt from Givenchy’s Spring 2013 menswear collection.
We’re big fans of boyfriend jeans, so maybe this is just the logical evolution of guy-inspired style. But we want to know: Do you like these stars’ menswear looks?
