Bette Davis became a silver screen legend not because of her good looks or connections, but because of her raw talent and memorizing personality. The Massachusetts native got her start on Broadway and later moved on to the big screen where she was known for her willingness to play unsympathetic characters. Davis was a trailblazer in Hollywood, and became the first woman to be honored with the AFI Life Achievement Award -- it's no wonder this lady is a legend.
In celebration of her birthday (on April 5), we are taking a look back at a vintage photo of the star. In this 1934 snapshot we see Davis decked out in fur (faux we hope!), for her role in "Fashions of 1934." Her elaborate ensemble, complete with a pom-pom hat and gloves with scalloped edges, was perfect for her character, a fashion designer. Her coiffed hair is certainly a nod to the times, while her beautiful doe eyes make it clear why there was a song written in their honor.
