Bob and lob haircuts are all over Hollywood, and there’s a reason these cool cuts are so popular: They’re edgy, they’re chic and they’re so quick to style. But finding new looks for the length can be tricky. That’s why we enlisted short hair master and Kaley Cuoco’s go-to pro Christine Symonds to teach us how to create three super easy and extremely quick styles for our “How It’s Done” video series (watch it above!). Here’s what she had to suggest:
Look #1: Straight and Slicked
Giving your go-to straight strands a cool update takes seconds with this simple trick. Beginning with straight hair, Symonds separates two front sections and pulls the rest of the hair back with a clip. Then, she smooths the loose sections with a comb and a mist of hairspray, and ties them together tightly at the nape of the neck, using a clear elastic. She then sprays hairspray all over and lets the back section loose, tousling it so it covers the ponytail.

Look #2: Twisted Half-Up Bun
Can’t seem to get your half-up topknot to stay in place? Symonds swears by dry shampoo and a simple twist, which will make the look seem effortless and cool without needing extensions. To create volume and texture, Symonds first sprays dry shampoo all over the hair. Then, starting from the ears up, she separates the top half into two sections, twists them around each other, and then wraps the twist into a bun, leaving the ends out. After securing the bun with bobby pins, Symonds finishes the look by pulling out a few front sections to create an undone feel.
Look #3: Faux Chignon
Faking full, long hair takes seconds with this double bun. First, Symonds parts the hair down the middle and pulls a small section at the crown of the head into a ponytail. Then, she pulls the rest of the hair into a ponytail just below the first one, and sprays each with dry shampoo to add volume. To complete the look, Symonds twists each ponytail into a bun, securing them so that they meet in the middle, and locks everything in place with a mist of hairspray.
