Yesterday, WWD announced that, after two and a half years as creative director for Mugler's men's and women's collections, Nicola Formichetti would be leaving the fashion house "by mutual agreement." And today, the trade writes, Formichetti "is expected to shortly reveal a major collaboration with Italian denim giant Diesel." The brand wouldn't comment, but CEO Daniela Riccardi reportedly left her post earlier this week, so changes are coming to the land of whiskered and permanently wrinkled jeans.
WWD also managed to pull full-sentences from Formichetti, who said it was "a challenge to reinvigorate the house for a new generation and audience, particularly one that has grown up exploring fashion through the Internet." A reason he gave for leaving: "I wanted to do something else, even bigger, more global." He spent the morning uploading his favorite Mugler Moments to Tumblr (featuring Azealia Banks, Gwen Stefani, Rick Genest, Kim Kardashian, Justin Bieber, and, of course, Lady Gaga) and spoke of #newbeginnings on Instagram.
