The Movie Star News Collection, believed to be the most expansive archive of Hollywood photography in the world, will be sold in a series of auctions next week in New York City. Started in 1939 by photographer Irving Klaw, the collection contains some images that have never been displayed to the public before now, including celebrity party shots and behind-the-scenes photos from old movie sets. See a vintage picture of young Marilyn Monroe getting stuffed into her dress backstage, movie stills of Vivian Leigh in Gone With the Wind, and cast photos from The Wizard of Oz in our preview slideshow.
The auctions will be held on April 6 and 7 at the Arader Galleries.
