Red Carpet Trend Report: Center Parts, Flirty Dresses and the Shoes You Can Toss Now

Looking to do a little spring cleaning this weekend? Here’s a handy guide to the hair and
clothing styles that stars are loving more than ever these days — as well as one that’s starting to fizzle.

Up: Center parts. After years of side-parted, beachy waves, it looks like we’re heading into the “center-parted, stick straight” phase of popular hairstyles. In addition to Jessica Szhor, we saw this dramatic do on Lana Del Rey, Kaley Cuoco and Emilia Clarke. Warning: this hairstyle is not for everyone, but if you’re feeling flatiron-happy these days, now’s your moment.

Up: Sweet A-Line Dresses. Feeling impatient for nicer weather to arrive? Stars including 14-year-old fashionista Kiernan Shipka, Emmy Rossum and Bella Thorne agree with you: they’re all breaking out their prettiest spring dresses a little early. Unlike the trend above, this look is universally flattering (and is guaranteed to put you in a flirty mood!)

Down: Clunky boots. Can we all agree to stop tucking our jeans into boots that cut us off mid-calf? Carrie Underwood‘s look would have been a knockout with a pair of pumps, or even ankle booties. Instead, these boots have a stumpifying effect. Put ‘em in your “donate” pile!
