It was a breakaway disaster on "Project Runway" as no one won the runway challenge in a first for the show. The teams were tasked with designing for the male dance troupe, Thunder From Down Under. Not only did they have to make clothes look great for the guys, but they had to tear away easily for their performances.
It proved to be a struggle too much for both teams and all eight remaining designers. The clothes were ill-fitting, poorly constructed, and in some cases they didn't even break away. Which is a shame, because the judges felt the best part was when the clothes were torn off of the men. Not so much for the reason you might expect, though. It was just that bad.
"Designers, unfortunately today our favourite part was when the clothes were off," Heidi Klum told them. "Tonight, there’s no winner. And this is a ‘Project Runway’ first."
As The Lincoln Journal Star pointed out, the designers just didn't know "how to tailor menswear." The judges even pointed out feminine features on some of the clothing.
Team Slick and Hip lost the challenge. "Things get ugly when Heidi asks who the weakest designer was and Richard and the ladies get into it," Gossip and Gab wrote. But in the end, it was Amanda who was eliminated.
Somebody has to win next week, right? Find out on "Project Runway," Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET on Lifetime.
