Looking stunning in the April issue of Harper's Bazaar, Kate Winslet is speaking out about her newfound marriage and the way it has changed her.
“I’ve really learnt a great deal about myself, in the last four years in particular. I think I can see more clearly now -- about how the pattern of past experiences has shaped who I am and the characters I have played -- and I’m grateful for that," the 37-year-old Oscar-winning actress told the magazine. "I have so much more material to draw on for work -- rubble, bricks -- and I know I can carry it now. I’m not going to drop it, and if I do, I’ll sift through it. Does that make any sense at all? Probably not.”
Winslet married 34-year-old businessman Ned Rocknroll, whose real name is Abel Smith, in an intimate ceremony in early December. This marks her third marriage. She was previously married to "Hideous Kinky" director Jim Threapleton, with whom she had her daughter Mia, and "American Beauty" director Sam Mendes, with whom she had her son Joe.
Winslet also reflected on what it was like to meet the queen of England, who named her a Commander of the Order of the British Empire, or CBE, last November for her contributions to drama.
“Oh my God, [the queen] looks amazing. Beautiful skin and wonderful thick hair," Winslet told the magazine. "She looked really well and pretty and fresh, and she was wearing a lovely pale-yellow dress.”
