At last September's Zac Posen show, after fire marshals pulled 60 seats from the Avery Fisher Hall space — leaving Marie-José Susskind-Jalou, president of Jalou publishing house, without one — Susskind-Jalou smacked HL Group's Lynn Tesoro, in charge of the event's PR. Susskind-Jalou's daughter, Jennifer Eymere of Jalouse, initially took responsibility for the altercation, telling WWD, "It was a small slap. It was not strong. I didn't hurt her, it was just to humiliate her. She humiliated my mom, and I humiliated her in front of her crew. Voilà. I just said at the end, 'Now you know you don't f--k with French people.'" Several days later, Tesoro filed a $1 million lawsuit against Susskind-Jalou, Eymere, and her sister Vanessa Bellugeon of L'Officiel magazine for assault and slander in New York Supreme Court.
According to WWD, the suit was sent to Manhattan federal court (because one side was French people, and the other, American), and Tesoro's attorney, Steven G. Storch of Storch Amini & Munves, confirmed it had been resolved. The trade writes, "terms were not disclosed, although one source close to Tesoro said she did receive and accept an apology as part of the settlement" — maybe a yearlong subscription to Jalouse, gratis.
