In another instance of 2015's unrelenting march of the zombie brands, Band of Outsiders is poised to return next year, albeit in different hands. Women's Wear Daily has an update on the label, which ceased operations this spring and was then acquired by Luxembourg-based company CLCC SA. It will be back in time for the spring 2017 season — in fashion time, that's September 2016.
Founding designer Scott Sternberg is not involved in the reboot, and according to a source of the paper's, some of his former staffers declined to sign on to the new venture out of "loyalty" to Sternberg. The label hopes to continue selling at the same price point and to the same retailers as the brand once did, and potential new avenues could include stand-alone stores (in its previous iteration, Band of Outsiders had stores in New York and Tokyo). The question is, will customers notice the difference, or are they less attuned to the inner workings of the fashion-news cycle?
