We're used to deeming the annual Pirelli calendar #NSFW, but this year's shoot takes an inspiring turn. While Gigi Hadid and Candice Huffine strapped on sexy latex bustiers for the 2015 edition, fashion photographer Annie Leibovitz has captured some of our favorite icons this time around, including Serena Williams, Tavi Gevinson, Amy Schumer, and Yoko Ono.
From Serena's bold topless shot to a snap of Patti Smith strumming her guitar and, of course, Amy sipping coffee in lacy panties, the stunning photos - which also feature Natalia Vodianova, Kathleen Kennedy, Yao Chen, Mellody Hobson, Fran Lebowitz, Ava DuVernay, Agnes Gund, and Shirin Neshat - show off not only serious modeling skills but also undeniable talent.
"I started to think about the roles that women play, women who have achieved something. I wanted to make a classic set of portraits. I thought that the women should look strong but natural and I decided to keep it a very simple exercise of shooting in the studio. This calendar is so completely different. It is a departure. The idea was not to have any pretense in these pictures and be very straightforward," Annie Leibovitz said of the Pirelli calendar's chosen ladies.
