Although many fans are complaining about the high prices of Kanye West‘s Yeezy Season 1, the rapper’s debut clothing line sold out much of its stock almost instantly — and then ended up on eBay.
The line, which was on display at this year’s New York Fashion Week, features baggy sweatshirts, sweats, and distinctly tattered and oversized tops, along with jackets and signature boots.
Many of West’s fans took to Twitter to voice their discontent at the prices, yet the Yeezy Season collection — available at limited retailers like Barneys, SSENSE, and Mr. Porter — has almost completely sold out.
Prices range from $340 for a “thermal knit shirt” to $3,510 for a “faux-fur-trimmed oversized parka,” with tags in between covering the cost of backpacks, sweats and sweaters.
West, 38, has not responded to any of the backlash or apparent success from his near sold-out debut. However, he has been open in the past about wanting his clothes to be accessible to everyone.
“I don’t want them to be limited actually,” he said during an interview with Power 105 FM’s The Breakfast Club. “That’s something that the company did. I really want as many people to get them as possible. I didn’t want the price to be $350. I don’t want to play this sneaker culture game and all this so they be reselling them for high prices and stuff. I just want people to have what I make.”
