Sexy for our troops! LeAnn Rimes hit a red carpet at the Youth National Guard Challenge gala in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday (Feb. 26) -- and instead of red, white and blue, the Grammy-winning singer, 30, opted for not-so-basic black for the event, where she also performed.

With her talked-about new bangs in full effect, Rimes wore a ruffled, partially sheer mini-dress, which she paired with thigh-high black leather boots and simple gold jewelry. Still, the "How Do I Live?" singer looked slightly out of place posing with young members of the National Guard in the racy getup.

Her husband Eddie Cibrian was a no-show at the National Guard event, but apparently did escort her to the U.S. capital, as earlier pap shots suggest. Loving rainy DC. . . . It's a cozy, rainy day in DC. Going to Pilates. Btw, driving in this city is CONFUSING!"
Her nemesis Brandi Glanville made a much more high-profile splash on the red carpet two nights before -- appearing at her very first Academy Awards in a shockingly low-cut gown of her own design.
