Fashion Star host, style MVP and Fashion Week blogger Louise Roe spent her weekend in Oscar heaven, rubbing elbows with the big stars and covering the red carpet for Access Hollywood. She blogged about her experience for PEOPLE StyleWatch; catch all the fun below!
What a week! The lead-up to the Oscars is always packed with fun events and a crazy work schedule. This year I hosted a fun party with jewelry brand Montblanc at the famous setting for Pretty Woman, the Beverly Wilshire Hotel. I wore a printed dress by Mara Hoffman, and one of my absolute favorite designers in the world, Monika Chiang, stopped by for a glass of Champagne.
Next up it was time for some beauty prep. I had an amazing facial by Natura Bisse, which totally cleared and prepped my skin for the big day. My fitting was so much fun, too — I headed to Monique Lhuillier’s store on Melrose Place, and played dress-up all afternoon. I couldn’t decide between a red gown (left) and a blue gown (below), so I was naughty and took both!
I picked out a pair of gold sandals by Jimmy Choo, a gold python clutch by Marchesa, and some unbelievably gorgeous jewelry by Jacqueline Nerguizian. Based in Arizona, Jacqueline has an incredible selection of new and vintage jewels, so she flew in with $2 million worth for me to pick from. I honestly felt like a princess! I decided upon a ruby ring, an Art Deco yellow-gold bracelet from the 1920s and a pair of yellow diamond earrings.
I hosted the Oscars red carpet for Access Hollywood, and was super impressed with all the fashion. My best dressed? Jessica Chastain in Armani — the copper tone of the dress worked perfectly with her porcelain skin and red hair. Zoë Saldana took a risk in Alexis Mabille Couture and it paid off. And Jennifer Aniston — in bright color at last! She looked elegant and show stopping in red Valentino. Kudos to Helen Hunt for wearing a dress from H&M, but for me, it was too similar to Jennifer Lawrence’s Dior gown at the SAGs. And a quick shout-out to Jane Fonda, who dazzled in canary-yellow Versace! Such a bold look for a woman who sure showed the younger generation how it’s done!
My night ended with dancing and macarons at Elton John’s party in West Hollywood. I changed into my second Monique dress, and switched into some white diamonds — also by Jacqueline Nerguizian — for a little late-night glitter.
