You might've been too distracting tweeting during last night's Oscars commercial breaks. But if you'd kept the volume on the TV, you would have heard one song playing over and over: "La Vie En Rose."
A poppier version than the Edith Piaf original, this "La Vie En Rose" formed the soundtrack to Dior's latest commercial for Miss Dior perfume starring Natalie Portman. The new commercial hit the web late last week but didn't worm its way into our brains until the Oscars, where it was played over and over... and over... and over.
Directed by Sofia Coppola, the lovely spot features Natalie doing all the nice things girls get to do in commercials: lay on the couch, frolic around the yard, get kissed by a handsome man and stare pensively into space. Natalie also gets to wear a frothy Dior dress, the kind we would have loved to see her wearing on last night's Oscars red carpet... y'know, if she had been there.
Alas Portman skipped the show, depriving us of a major red carpet moment. But this commercial is an excellent consolation prize.
