There are many Hollywood couples who get engaged and never actually make it down the aisle, but Brad Pitt and Gwyneth Paltrow were a pair we were rooting for. The duo met in 1995 on the set of "Seven," but the romance ended two years later (following a brief six month engagement).
In this 1996 photograph, we see the couple holding hands at the 68th Annual Academy Awards. Paltrow wears a demure minimalist gown, while Pitt looks suave as ever in a black suit and round sunglasses (why don't celebs wear sunnies on the red carpet anymore?). Although this duo won't be showing up together to this year's Oscars, you can bet that their appearance will make just as big of a splash.
