Michelle Williams says she’s growing out her hair. “I think I’m ready,” she told E! while promoting Oz the Great and Powerful, “It’s on its way, slowly but surely.” It sounds a bit dramatic for hair talk, but then, when Michelle Williams refers to her much-adored pixie, it’s never just about the hair. Remember when she told Elle, "I cut it for the one straight man who ever liked short hair and I wear it in memorial of somebody who really loved it," causing the nation to collectively mourn Heath Ledger, secret short-hair-lover, even harder? (And possibly google Williams’s pre-Ledger love life, in case she was actually referring to two different guys?) Apparently growing it back out is also an emotionally fraught endeavor. “The mid-stage is insufferable,” she said. “It’s really hard on your self-esteem.” What are we really talking about here? Without reading too much into it, if anyone wants to start the Michelle Williams–Jason Segel engagement date betting pool, kindly let us know.
