Eva Longoria‘s name is practically synonymous with high-wattage red carpet looks … which is why we were surprised to find out that the star isn’t at all interested in fashion.
“I don’t pay a lot of attention to [fashion]. My stylist [Charlene Roxborough] does, though,” Longoria told PEOPLE at the Lays’s Do Us a Flavor event in N.Y.C. on Tuesday. “I just put it on if it’s pretty.”
And thanks to Roxborough and the rest of Longoria’s glam squad, she’s become a permanent fixture on ‘Best Dressed’ lists. “[My style] has evolved tremendously. Have you seen my old red carpet photos?” she joked. “And it’s evolved because I’ve hired the right people who focus on that.”
Roxborough’s style guidance also extends to Longoria’s everyday wardrobe — she forced the self-proclaimed “clothes hoarder” to part with her beloved Juicy sweats. “[Roxborough] told me, ‘If you wear Uggs and a Juicy [suit] one more time … ‘” Longoria recalled. “I said, ‘I was going to Starbucks!’ And she was like, ‘I don’t care!’”
Now that she’s gotten a fashion education, Longoria favors designs by Ángel Sánchez, Oscar de la Renta, Carolina Herrera and Emilio Pucci. Her all-time favorite gown, however, was by Marchesa: a dreamy, blush creation she wore to the Cannes Film Festival last year. “I loved the hair, the makeup and the dress,” she explained. “That was a perfect illusion created for that night.”
