Last night at the Beatrice Inn, Glamour's Cindi Leive hosted a small group of editors, models, and other fashionable friends to celebrate Jason Wu's second inaugural gown for Michelle Obama. Newly minted T magazine editor Deborah Needleman came straight from her office, where she had just seen the very first copy of her official debut issue, out on February 17. As of yesterday, there was only one copy in existence, and she'd left it at her desk. "I forgot to bring it home," she said. So, what did she think? "I don’t have to kill myself," she replied wryly. Were there moments she feared she would? "Yeah, I’m afraid! I was pleased and happy for everybody on staff. I thought it was respectable. [Creative director] Patrick Li is a genius. Truthfully, I feel like the design is exquisite, and as a work of journalism, it’ll come along."
About that new design — what will it look like? "Think Azzedine Alaïa," said Li, also in attendance, of the magazine's makeover. "It’s super-restrained, but there’s something very directional about it, in a very subtle way, I guess. Or not so subtle sometimes."
