Margot Robbie's "Barbie" press tour looks are not for the faint of heart, but given the incredible lineup of costumes featured in the Greta Gerwig-directed movie, that should come as no surprise. While Robbie's onscreen character is outfitted by Jacqueline Durran for the film, the 32-year-old Australian actress and producer works with stylist Andrew Mukamal for event dressing. Mukamal has been sharing behind-the-scenes snippets on Instagram, along with the rest of Robbie's glam squad that includes hairstylist Bryce Scarlett, makeup artist Pati Dubroff, and manicurist Tom Bachik.
At the LA press junket on June 25, Robbie arrived in Valentino pink, sporting a polka-dot halter minidress with an ab cutout at the center. The custom look - yellow rockstud shoulder bag and all - was inspired by one of Barbie's original outfits, but also nods to a classic Valentino silhouette from the archives. Paying careful attention to the doll's accessories, Mukamal sourced white Manolo Blahnik pumps and an Assael pearl bracelet and drop earrings for Robbie. Her long blonde hair was parted slightly off center and fell into soft, texturized waves, and the rest of her glam was left natural, with pink cheeks and a "Barbie perfect" manicure.
Robbie also posed in a second outfit that matched her prop Barbie car perfectly while out on the street, consisting of a balconette style bra top and knotted mélange silk skirt, both courtesy of Bottega Veneta. White retro sunglasses, a pair of stiletto mules, and Bottega Veneta's pink Cabat bag were the finishing touches.
Robbie joined costar Ryan Gosling and the rest of her cast mates at the photo call, which you can see photos of ahead. Of course, this won't be the last hot-pink Barbie moment we see from Robbie in the weeks to come, as she promotes the release of the highly-anticipated film that lands in theaters on July 21.
