Taraji P. Henson gave us every reason to do a double take during a stroll through New York City on April 6. Stopping by the set of "The View," Henson, styled by Jason Rembert, arrived in a fuzzy dress by Marc Jacobs paired with sky-high platforms in purple. She styled the outfit with ruched leather gloves in black, as well as hair and makeup by Tym Wallace and Saisha Beecham.
As she entered the studio, the actor and "The Color Purple" star didn't miss a beat. With no runway in sight, she transformed the sidewalk into her own personal catwalk, posing for the cameras at all angles. Between blowing kisses at the paparazzi and waving to her fans, Henson also shared a glimpse at her voluminous sherpa dress from the side. The new angle revealed that the look is, in fact, one solid piece sewn to resemble a dress with a jacket tied around the waist. At the front of the dress, the sleeves of the attached jacket were left untied, sharing a glimpse at the built-in belt.
Created with comfort in mind, the woolly dress featured a high neckline and no sleeves. Curving at the waist, the piece fluttered into a subtle mermaid hemline that hit a few inches below her knees. Beneath the hem, Henson's strappy purple boots stole the show, doubling as footwear and stilts as she effortlessly floated past the onlooking crowd.
Henson's dress first made its runway debut at the designer's fall 2023 "Heroes" show, inspired by Vivienne Westwood, in NYC. Dramatic and abstract, the entire collection was filled with pieces that tricked the eye and merged utilitarian style with the avant-garde. A cross between a dress and a jacket, Henson's ensemble may have exemplified this unique style combo most of all.
Ahead, admire Henson's cozy look as she balances in a pair of 7-inch platforms.
