Florence Pugh is the red carpet moment. Fresh from opening London Fashion Week in a cutout corset and oversized hat at the Harris Reed show last week, the style icon arrived in an equally stylish ensemble for the 2023 BAFTAs. The actor, whose film "The Wonder" is nominated for outstanding British film, brought drama to the red carpet wearing a tomato red strapless gown and hair that gave us '90s feels.
The sheer fabric of Pugh's dress was gathered and ruched in the body before fanning out to a fishtail bottom with layers of pleated tulle to mirror the structured tulle detail at the neckline. Working with longtime stylist Rebecca Corbin-Murray, she added black platform wedges underneath the dramatic train.
While all eyes were undoubtedly on her voluminous dress, it was Pugh's '90s hair that really caught our attention. Sporting a micro fringe, her hair was scooped into a double bun at the back, with the ends fanned out to create a 360-degree spiked effect. The brainchild of hair stylist Peter Lux using Fable & Mane products, her hair was straightened and spiked to match the pleated ruffles of her dress, which Lux called "Bangs and Fans." You can bet your life we'll be looking at ways to mirror our outfits with our hairstyles going forward. Alex Babsky kept her makeup minimal with glowing skin, an eyeliner flick, and matte rose-pink lips so as not to overwhelm the look. And the end result was spectacular.
This is just another look in the long list of Pugh's red carpet show-stoppers. From gracing the cover of Vanity Fair in a naked dress to bringing back the peplum in Robert Wun, Pugh's style is bold and beautiful.
