Some of our favorite style moments from 2022 were a result of the daring cutout trend, and Anitta's latest red carpet look is proof that the look is here to stay. On Nov. 20, the "Envolver" singer attended the American Music Awards in a custom Mugler dress fitted with one unique detail: shimmering butt cutouts. Stylist Ron Hartleben paired her look with Tiffany & Co. jewelry, including six silver cuff bracelets and a dazzling set of rings. Anitta also tied her hair back in a divisive "wet flip bun," drawing attention to her sparkling chandelier earrings.
Ahead of taking the stage at the award show, the Grammy-nominated singer shared a glimpse of her dress from all angles, catching the lights of the camera flashes on every bead and bit of sequins. The floor-length gown featured a sheer base with thousands of miniature white beads sewn in place to create the illusion of a long-sleeved crop top with a curved hem. At the midriff, the dress dipped, forming an inverted M shape that wrapped around and came to a point at the base of her neck.
Just below the tattoo-baring mesh cutout, the dress transformed into a flowing black skirt composed of intricate beading and sequin detailing. Hand on hip, the star turned for the cameras, revealing two Rorschach-esque butt cutouts that began at her hip and swirled outward, ending just above her thigh. While celebrities like Halle Bailey have made the cutout trend a go-to in our personal wardrobes, Anitta's ensemble might be our favorite iteration of the trend yet.
