That's a wrap on Paris Fashion Week and, in turn, Fashion Month overall. Louis Vuitton closed out PFW with a show full of signature house codes and quite the stylish front row. Guests and Louis Vuitton ambassadors - like YouTube sensation Emma Chamberlain, "Wicked"'s Cynthia Erivo, "House of the Dragon" breakout star Milly Alcock, and Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas - took their seats as dresses, coats, and tailored sets hit the runway.
One attendee who stood out was Jaden Smith. Known for his alternative approach to fashion and his tendency to challenge menswear conventions, Smith chose a Louis Vuitton look from the womenswear resort 2023 collection presented in San Diego earlier this year. And while the look - a tan tweed, belted scarf/poncho combo and accompanying scalloped crop top - was shown on the runway with harem pants, Smith opted to pair it with jeans and New Balance sneakers.
For the spring/summer 2023 collection, Louis Vuitton Creative Director Nicolas Ghesquière explored the "DNA of the Maison." It was a collection rich with surrealist interpretations of buckles, zippers, locks, clasps, and the like. A leather dress with a hyperrealistic buckle mirrored the French house's bags, as the dresses incorporated elements such as leather patchwork and tailoring with exaggerated zippers. The collection, more broadly, explored the juxtaposition between hard and soft, with fabrics ranging from tough leather to frilly lace.
The bags this season were noteworthy standouts. Echoing the surrealism of the garments, there were bags shaped like labels and clasps, varied in size from oversize to micro. There was even a bag shaped like the Monsieur Louis Vuitton's home in Asnières.
