Is Katy Perry trying to tell us something?

The "Firework" singer posted a cryptic pic to her brand new Instagram account yesterday where she's seen hugging a mystery man whose outfit matches her 4th of July top. Could it be John Mayer?

Most media outlets certainly seem to think so, and rumors are now swirling that the brunette beauty joined her ex at his Philadelphia concert last night.

But the star hasn't made anything 100 percent official yet. She captioned the photo "Whose broad stripes & bright stars?!" but did not upload it to her Twitter account, where she has over 38 million followers. This, despite having uploaded her previous Instagram photo where she's showing off her patriotic nail art.

Perry and Mayer dated on-and-off for nine months before calling it quits last March. Recently, the songstress confessed to Vogue magazine that she's still in love with the crooner and the two were seen holding hands in New York City late last month.

So, Mayer or a mystery man? You be the judge.
