When you're a renowned designer like Charlotte Moss, every detail in your home is expected to be just right -- and that includes your outdoor spaces as well. And lucky for us, the May/June issue of Veranda magazine gives us a glimpse into Moss' breathtaking gardens at her East Hampton home, which are just as artfully put together as her interiors.
When she and her husband Barry Friedberg bought their house in 1989, the backyard was anything but lush. The property included "skinny trees" and a "lonely pool." And there was no way Moss was going to allow her grounds to stay like that. So, she worked with Lisa Stamm of Homestead Garden and Design to make the space a green oasis with a series of "rooms" filled with multicolored grasses.
Over the years, however, the design has changed. Right now, Moss is obsessed with the gardens at Prieuré Notre-Dame d'Orsan in France. She even had the master gardeners from the site come and teach the art of creating unique hedge designs.
And while the whole space is impressive, we particularly find ourselves dreaming of having lunch with Charlotte under the locust canopy that's outfitted with an adorable table setting.
