There’s been a lot of volume on the red carpet lately — and we’re not talking about hair. Some of Hollywood’s most stylish are bringing their fashion A-game (and taking a major risk) with sculptural-hip dresses.
Sophia Bush and Michelle Williams both recently stepped out in frocks by Katie Ermilio with sharp definition at the hips. Dianna Agron’s belted, red structured dress is both feminine and fashion-forward — we’d love to borrow it for an upcoming bridal shower.
Elle Fanning combined her ethereal looks with her style-setting instincts in a whimsical Lanvin gown with a voluminous skirt and black sash. And Emma Roberts styled her bell-shaped Honor skirt with a white blouse from the N.Y.C. based label.

The plus of this trend: It makes your waist look super tiny (case in point: Emma Roberts!). And those bold hips say to everyone in sight that you try trends fearlessly.
On the other hand, the hoop-skirt vibe is not easy for just anyone to pull off. It may have worked for Marie Antoinette in the 1700s, but the 21st century may be a different story.
Tell us: Would you try the bold-hip trend?
