GARAGE, the biannual publication dedicated to all things art, fashion, and literature, will be rolling out its fourth issue to select newsstands on February 9, with the theme of "Vanity." But rather than simply celebrating glamour and celebrity, or copying Vanity Fair, editor-in-chief Dasha Zhukova has stuffed the upcoming issue with a grittier interpretation of the word. Zhukova writes about the process of establishing personality in the modern world; photographer Patrick Demarchelier addresses "the void of the individual in the fashion industry" with a photo spread featuring a sea of anonymous models wearing Cindy Sherman masks; photographers Boris Mikhailov and Juergen Teller wax on about beauty and photography while dining on clam pasta; and model and athlete Aimee Mullins emphasizes the fluidity of one's look by becoming a paper doll in a photo spread by Alex Sainsbury, as she changes her look from goth to beauty queen while wearing clothes by Marc Jacobs, Stella McCartney, Burberry, and more.
