You Know You’re Famous When … Designers Name Their Clothes After You!

There are so many things we don’t have in common with celebrities. We don’t fly in private jets to beautiful islands. We hardly ever get to don couture gowns and walk up the stairs at Cannes. And we certainly do not have any designers naming clothes after us, no matter how much we would like that.

We recently spotted Pippa Middleton (bottom left) toting her Kate Spade New York “Catherine Street Pippa” bag around London. The style was given her moniker as a nod for being such a big fan of the brand, but it’s not even the first bag to carry her name — her go-to Modalu satchel was renamed for her in 2011. (It seems to be a Middleton sister perk: Her sister Kate’s Whistles blouse was renamed “the Kate” when it was reissued.)

Middleton is hardly the first star to spark the interest of a designer. Models have been inspiring shoes and handbags for ages (think Marc Jacob’s “Stam” purse, for Jessica Stam, or Alexander Wang’s “Freja” boots, for Freja Beha). But in the past few years, stars have been increasingly seen out in styles carrying their names — even designing their own namesake pieces, like Emmy Rossum did for Elie Tahari.

Clockwise from top left: Hayden Panettiere was one of several stars to put her stamp on a pair of shoes for Stuart Weitzman — and of course the petite star picked a bootie with lots of added height. Sarah Jessica Parker wears her Level 99 “Sarah” jeans everywhere, proving their design team was onto something when they created the style with her in mind. Emma Roberts had a hand in the design of Nanette Lepore’s “Emma” shades design for Sunglass Hut. And even before Lana Del Rey blew up, Mulberry’s designers used her as the starting point for their “Delrey” bag.

A few more noteworthy namesake items: Blake Lively‘s BFF Christian Louboutin created a shoe just for her (that she still hasn’t worn!), Lily Aldridge gave all her model pals props in her latest Velvet collection; and Sienna Miller pays tribute to her new baby with her favorite pair of Lookmatic “Marlowe” shades.

Tell us: If you could have anything named after you, what would it be? Which of these star’s pieces do you like most?
