As celebrities paraded up and down the steps of the 2022 Met Gala on Monday night, Teyana Taylor and Winnie Harlow took a moment to bask in the beauty of each other's Iris van Herpen designs. While the silhouettes, colors, and overall aesthetic of their dresses couldn't have been more different, both Taylor and Harlow embraced the gala's "Gilded Glamour" theme, proving without a shadow of a doubt that they understood the assignment.
Taylor's otherworldly design was a semisheer dress with puffed sleeves, a strappy cut-out bodice, and a flowing handkerchief train that pooled behind her in a watercolor pattern. She styled the look with Louboutin sandals, Lillian Shalom jewelry, and a Malakai "Psyche" couture mask made of sterling-silver vines and gills accented with amethyst navettes. Taylor's beauty team completed the look with a slicked-back bun, violet eyeshadow, and a marbled manicure that mirrored the gown's iris and lavender hues.
While Taylor's look played with the color spectrum, Harlow arrived in a monochrome Iris van Herpen minidress reminiscent of a flower. "White Swan," Harlow captioned photos of her look on Instagram. The avant-garde dress featured a circular silhouette painted with intricate, vine-like designs and embellished with spiny accents emerging from the hem and bodice. Each branch-like tendril featured a pointed black cap on the end reminiscent of a porcupine quill. Harlow wore a massive headpiece composed of feathers and gemstones arranged in a crown-like design. She styled the futuristic dress with Wempe diamond jewelry, white slingback heels, and bold mascara.
During the red carpet, Harlow spotted Taylor and strutted over to snap a few photos with her, fully aware of how exceptional their Met Gala looks were. Separately, Harlow and Taylor nailed the event's over-the-top theme, but together, their style game was unmatched.
