Which Oscar Winner Will Prince William and Princess Kate Meet on Their Visit to Sweden?

When Prince William and Kate Middleton head to Sweden later this month, they’ll be getting a taste of Hollywood in Stockholm.

The royals are heading north to Scandinavia at the end of January for a four-day visit to Sweden and Norway. And while they’re there, they’ll have a chance to meet Alicia Vikander during a black tie at the Residence of the British Ambassador in Stockholm.

Vikander, who was born and raised in Gothenburg, Sweden, won an Oscar in 2016 for the movie The Danish Girl, in which she played Gerda Wegener, the wife of the first transgender woman to undergo gender confirmation surgery. This year, she’ll star in a revamp of the Lara Croft: Tomb Raider series, taking on the title role that was originally played by Angelina Jolie. (No word on whether her new husband, Michael Fassbender, will also be in attendance.)

During the event, William and Kate will also have a chance to dine with Mamma Mia star Stellan Skarsgård and Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Löfven. Throughout the visit, they’ll be hosted by Crown Princess Victoria and her husband, Prince Daniel. As the couple next in line to the throne with young children at home, they are essentially William and Kate’s Swedish counterparts. (Victoria and Daniel’s daughter, Princess Estelle, is only a year older than Prince George, 4, and their son, Prince Oscar, is less than a year younger than 2-year-old Princess Charlotte.)

After their star-studded stay in Sweden, William and Kate will travel to Oslo, Norway. There, they’ll meet Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit and stay at the Royal Palace during their two-day stay. (Maybe they can check out Mette-Marit’s amazing library.)

Despite the potential playmates in Stockholm, George and Charlotte will not be accompanying their parents on the trip, as they did for the family’s visit to German and Poland over the summer. Why? Likely because they’ll be busy with school: Prince George is currently attending Thomas’s Battersea School, while Princess Charlotte started at Willcocks Nursery School last week.
