Shampoo or Not To Shampoo?
When it comes to shampooing, it can be hard to know what's true amidst all of the circulating myths. Luckily, Tabatha wants to dispel them for you. The idea that shampoo is bad for your hair is "a total fallacy", she emphatically claims. You can shampoo every day, twice a day," she says, "as long as you're using the right product." Some of the shampoo myths come from the idea that the product strips and "wears down" your hair, which can happen if using too strong a product. Tabatha warns against using dandruff shampoos, or shampoos that are "too stripping", for this reason. But she unequivocally encourages the use of "gentle" shampoos. "Shampoo opens up the cuticles in your hair, getting the debris and product out," she explains. "use a light conditioner to close those cuticles back up when you're done."
Lukewarm Wash?
One of Tabatha's other suggestions may not seem as pleasant. If your skin or hair tend to produce oil, it's better to shampoo using "less hot" water, as the steaming hot water you love may produce oil in your hair that will counteract the shampoo. "Do your body first hot, then your hair," suggests Tabatha, "if you really have to have that hot water!"
