To some degree, we all follow our Style and Beauty Director Andrea Lavinthal’s cardinal piece of advice: If you love something, buy it in two colors. One of us has the same pair of jeans in six different washes. Another can’t stop buying cat sweatshirts. Taylor Swift, however, takes this mantra to an unbelievable level when it comes to high-heeled lace up Oxford shoes. She’s worn seven different pairs in the past 14 days — and that’s barely scratching the surface of what she’s got in her closet.
It’s no surprise that Swift has a carefully cultivated style, which is a unique mix of prairie/preppy/vintage/retro/rockabilly/Sophisticated Lady. The red lips, the high-waisted shorts, the structured handbags and the Peter Pan collars are all part of the look, and we admire her for knowing what she likes and sticking to it. (Though we were delighted she refreshed her hairdo, which helps update vibe a bit.) But despite our full support of Swift’s commitment to her signature look, we still manage to be surprised every time she debuts a different pair of her favorite shoe style.

Editors here have decidedly mixed reactions to her shoe fixation, which range from “Aw, I think it’s nice” to “She literally looks like she’s from the 1800s.” And there definitely is something a little “Miss Havisham” about the seemingly unlimited supply of ankle-grazing, lace up kicks. But each pair does have something slightly different about it — from perforation to color-blocking to cutouts — and far be it from us, the people who own twelve slightly different black cashmere sweaters, to judge her choices.
