Sydney Sweeney showed off her edgy side for the Elle Women in Hollywood Celebration at the Getty Center in Los Angeles on Monday. For the event, held on Oct. 17 to champion women in entertainment, the "Euphoria" star stepped out in a black leather set from Rokh, styled by Molly Dickson.
Sweeney's outfit consisted of a two-piece set that might've looked like a typical suit, if not for the unique cutout details. The top featured a large collar and structured shoulders, which were contrasted by open panels throughout. The first cutout detail was minimal with two crescent-shaped slits above each cup detail across the chest. The next play with missing fabric was much more dramatic. Aside from a single strip of buttons down the midline of the top, nearly all of Sweeney's abdomen peeked out between her ribs and the waistband of the matching trousers.
The hem of the top hit the middle of Sweeney's thighs, giving the effect of a minidress over pants. She paired this outfit with a wet-hair look by Glen Coco and subtle makeup by Melissa Hernandez.
The oversize leather construction of the set made the outfit the perfect cool-girl fall inspiration, but this was newer territory for Sweeney and her stylist, Dickson. Previously, Dickson and Sweeney teased an edgier aesthetic when the actor intentionally wore a Versace dress backward to the Emmys.
In light of Sweeney's recent comments about feeling hypersexualized, her newest red carpet look might be her way of showcasing her style and challenging her critics all at once.
