The premiere for the live-action movie "The Little Mermaid" hit London on May 15, and if there was one fashion trend to hit the aptly colored blue carpet, it was "under-the-sea chic." "Bridgerton" star Simone Ashley, who plays Indira in the film as one of Ariel's sisters, served a subtly sexy take on the theme.
Styled by Rebecca Corbin-Murray, the 28-year-old stood out in a nude cutout dress at the Odeon Luxe Leicester Square. The actor rocked the floor-length Victoria Beckham gown, which featured a keyhole cutout at the chest and entire wavy mesh panels down either side. The netted details were made even more striking by the seaweed-style streams of fabric at the bottom of the dress, which was a stylish nod to the theme. Ashley, who recently soft-launched her relationship with Tino Klein on Instagram, added a pair of sky-high metallic silver platform Jimmy Choo heels and a collection of seashell rings on her fingers.
The drama didn't end there, either. While her skin was kept dewy and natural, makeup artist Alex Babsky drew attention to her eyes with midnight blue smokey shadow, while her hair was tousled into loose waves by celebrity hairstylist Halley Brisker.
This isn't the first sea-themed attire she has worn. Hitting up the LA premiere of "The Little Mermaid," Ashley wore a Barbiecore-inspired pink Versace dress that showed off her legs and a fabric mermaid "tail." It's clear she understood the assignment.
Ashley's mermaid-inspired ensemble is just one of many at the premiere, with the star joining the the likes of Halle Bailey, who plays the lead role of Ariel, wearing a gorgeous white custom shell-inspired Miss Sohee gown styled by Nichole Goodman, and Melissa McCarthy, who plays Ursula, in a hot pink ruffle gown with larger-than-life matching platform boots.
