While she's retired from the tennis court, Serena Williams is keeping busy with her many entrepreneurial efforts. As the head of her very own venture capital firm - aptly titled Serena Ventures - she invests in an array of companies and startups, including popular brands like Billie, Daily Harvest, and Tonal.
On Wednesday, Oct. 19, she opened up about her impressive VC career at a TechCrunch event in San Francisco. In keeping with appropriate seasonal tones, Williams wore a palette of neutral hues for her appearance. The 41-year-old tennis champ paired a brown, cap-sleeved top with a black, brown, and beige argyle miniskirt. She finished off the look with complementary accessories, including beige suede heels, a single-strand gold necklace, and a silver watch.
Williams, who styled her hair in long braids, revealed that nearly 40 percent of Serena Ventures's investors are women or people of color, according to TechCrunch. "We spend a lot of time on gender and racial equity within the healthcare system, mental health, and wellness," Williams said on stage. "These are problems that are facing every community, but especially facing women and people of color, there's not enough tools and services there for them. So that's something we're really focused on."
Back in August, Williams was revealed as the cover star for the September 2022 issue of Vogue. To mark the occasion - and to announce her forthcoming retirement - she broke down her life in looks for the magazine's recurring video series. Some of the standout ensembles included? The full-length catsuit she was banned from wearing at the 2018 French Open, as well as the denim miniskirt she wore at the US Open in 2004 to debut her partnership with Nike.
