Many dream of having access to a Hollywood veteran's red carpet wardrobe. For Salma Hayek's daughter Valentina Pinault, that's her reality. Wearing one of her mom's archival pieces, the 15-year-old joined Hayek on the Oscars red carpet on March 12 as her date. The "Magic Mike's Last Dance" star sparkled in a custom Gucci dress with a halter neckline and a fringe train, while her daughter matched in a strapless A-line gown by Isaac Mizrahi.
The 56-year-old actor and producer originally wore the velvet dress over 25 years ago, for the Fire & Ice Ball, a charity event, back in 1997. At the time, Hayek completed the look with a matching red shawl draped over her arms, a stacked diamond necklace, a sequined red purse, and a classic red lip to tie it all together.
With help from Hayek's stylist Rebecca Corbin-Murray, Pinault modernized the gown for the 2023 Oscars with a simple tennis necklace and earrings from Anita Ko, a silver bag, and neutral makeup. Though the dress may belong to Hayek, it certainly appears to be made for the stylish teen, who's following in her mom's footsteps as an aspiring actor and director.
The mother-daughter duo stopped by the Vanity Fair afterparty later in the night, swapping their matching red ensembles for complementary pink and silver gowns. Hayek wore another dazzling Gucci creation, this time with a plunging neckline and a lace-up leg slit. Pinault, on the other hand, changed into a romantic rose-colored gown with draped floral detailing.
Pinault isn't the only celebrity child to take advantage of a chic parent's closet. Zahara and Shiloh Jolie-Pitt are known to snag a thing or two from mom Angelina Jolie's archives. Shiloh once wore one of Angelina's printed Dior dresses, while Zahara upcycled her mother's 2014 Oscars dress during the same "The Eternals" press tour. Other celebrity offspring like Leni Klum and Harper Beckham have also worn pieces originally owned by their fashionable parents.
See Hayek and Pinault wearing the same timeless dress ahead.
