Not many models can parlay their often short-lived runway careers into massive retail empires, but Kathy Ireland has successfully blazed the trail. As of last year, according to Forbes, she was the world's richest model.
But first, a little backstory: The California native rose to fame by starring in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue starting in 1984, and would appear in the magazine 13 years in a row.

She also maintained her own enviable style. As the supermodel turns 50 on March 20th, we're taking a look back at her best fashion moments.
