In our weekly roundup of the looks that are gaining fashion ground (and the ones losing their style street cred), we pegged the hottest accessory on the carpet (and not it’s not an accessory at all!), plus, the hairstyle taking over Hollywood and a shade of lipstick that needs to take five.
Up: Pixie cuts. We’ve come down with a bad case of celebrity hair exhaustion from writing about all the dramatic cuts that have been happening. Probably the most shocking: Jennifer Lawrence said goodbye to her shoulder-length do (in her own words, “My hair couldn’t get any uglier”) for a classic side-swept pixie crop. And J.Law is not alone. Pamela Anderson, Kristin Chenoweth and Jennifer Hudson have also lopped off their long strands for super-short styles. Short hair is where it’s at, y’all.
Up: Skin-baring gowns. Cooler temps can’t stop stars from showing skin. And we’re talking serious skin. Revealing gowns were so popular, we dedicated a whole post to the trend. We think our favorite look had to be Kate Hudson‘s plunging blush-colored Gucci gown (worn to the LACMA Art + Film Gala in L.A.) with cutouts at the waist and back. She was putting it out there, managing to look polished and sexy at the same time. On the other end of the spectrum, Jaimie Alexander was the definition of black-tie bare at the Thor: The Dark World premiere, wearing a black Azzaro gown that was almost completely sheer (and barely covered her naughty bits). And falling in between, Carrie Underwood went all glam-goddess in a Ralph & Russo Couture gown with a sheer skirt at the CMAs.
Down: Hot-pink lipstick. We still love you, pink, but you’re being replaced this week by reds and nudes. While Olivia Wilde totally has that mommy-to-be glow happening, her choice of a hot-pink lip at the LACMA Gala felt a bit off this week, when most stars are sticking to berries and bordeauxs or skipping rich color and going nude on their pouts.
