In our weekly roundup of the looks that are gaining fashion ground (and the ones losing their style street cred), we noticed a whole lotta white, hairstyles featuring center parts and pants that don’t actually qualify as pants.
Up: All white. Just a few weeks ago, we were seeing black and white experience a resurgence on the red carpet, and now it appears stars have simplified the trend even more, whittling it down to a monochromatic look. Kim Kardashian’s ivory turtleneck dress (at the Dream for Future Africa Foundation gala in Beverly Hills) topped off a week of white outfits, including Jessica Alba in a Wes Gordon mini at the 50 Most Fashionable Women of 2013 event in West Hollywood, and Amy Adams in an Antonio Berardi sheath at the Hollywood Film Awards.
Up: Center parts. You may have been too distracted by Sandra Bullock’s eye-catching neckline or bold red lip (we can’t blame you!) to notice her lust-worthy waves, which were parted right down the middle at the Hollywood Film Awards. Many others ditched their standard side-swept locks in favor of the trend. Natalie Portman chose the center-part to debut her new haircut at the Paris premiere of Thor: The Dark World, and Jessica Paré showed off the trend with a slicked-back do at the Vogue fashion show in L.A.
Down: Hot pants. While the majority of Hollywood embraced the cooler weather by covering up this week, Solange Knowles decided to show off some leg — or all leg — in a pair of high-waisted short-shorts at an eBay event in N.Y.C. Sure, she looks amazing in them, but it seems like she and Miley Cyrus are the only stars trying to keep this trend alive through the fall.
