Emmylou Harris may have considered herself a "Red Dirt Girl," but she certainly found plenty of fame over the course of her career.
The singer-songwriter has left quite a mark on country music, working with everyone from Bob Dylan to Roy Orbison to Dolly Parton. In the 1960s, Emmylou dropped out of college to pursue music in New York City, where she married her first husband and recorded her first album, "Gliding Bird." The marriage soon unraveled, and Emmylou moved to Washington D.C.
Over the next 40 years, the stunning brunette stood out amongst her various famous collaborators and bandmates, becoming a popular fixture on the music scene and earning 12 Grammys. Like a certain country singer today (ahem, Taylor Swift), Emmylou had many failed attempts at love, including 3 marriages that ended in divorce.
Along the way, the chart-topper maintained her trademark bohemian style and gorgeous head of hair. As Emmylou celebrates her 66th birthday on April 2, we're taking a look back at the musician's style over the years.
