We're hoping that Phyllis, Peggy's amazing-eye-shadow-wearing secretary on Mad Men, becomes a more central character this season. After the sheepish creatives on Peggy's team are too scared to come into her office for their daily berating, Phyllis gently coaches Peggy on how to be encouraging. Peggy is having none of it and tells Phyllis, "Why don't you just get me whatever book you read and save me these little lectures."
Which book might Peggy have been talking about? Maybe Betty Friedan's The Feminine Mystique? No way to be sure, but it's good to know that even then women were reading books about how to lead.
