Nail art? No thanks! Bold red lips? Not this year! We saw a surprising number of pale gowns on the Oscars red carpet Sunday night, and a number of soft, neutral beauty looks to go along with them. So here are seven stars whose pouts and nails we loved — and the scoop on the exact shades they’re wearing:

Jennifer Lawrence: When you’re wearing something as dramatic as that breathtaking Dior gown, you don’t need much else! So J. Law‘s makeup artist, Jillian Dempsey, went minimal with makeup, using Dior Addict lipstick in Beige Casual #222 to create a mauve lip. Manicurist April Foreman went a similar route, complementing the winner’s dress with CoverGirl Outlast Nail Gloss in Forever Frosted; an understated, ballet-inspired color.

Kerry Washington: Makeup artist Carola Gonzalez used the embellishments of the star’s coral Miu Miu gown as inspiration for her “radiant, natural” beauty look. Gonzalez first swiped on Lancôme Rouge in Love in Rose Boudoir, followed byGiorgio Armani Lip Maestro 202 for a glossy finish.

Anne Hathaway: The Oscar winner‘s mani was a lot like her dress: classic with a hint of glitz. Tom Bachik started with a baby-pink shade from L’Oréal Paris’s Versailles Romance Colour Riche Nail Collection (out in March) called The Palace Life, and since the star is a “fan of subtle nail art” (remember her SAGs nails?), he painted Hathaway’s grandmother’s initials on her ring fingers using a silver pen.

Adele: We can always count on the superstar to nail it with her makeup, and she certainly did again last night. Since Michael Ashton focused on Adele’s flawless complexion and super-dramatic lashes, he went subtle with her smile: First he lined the lips with Giorgio Armani lip liner in #12, then he layered on Giorgio Armani Lip Maestro in #500. A swipe of Sisley lip gloss in White Diamond was the finishing touch. And manicurist Kimmi Kyees applied Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Fast Dry Nail Color in Quick Sand under Complete Salon Manicure in Almost Almond to acheive the star’s nude talons.

Charlize Theron: No, we can’t all have the star’s statuesque body, but we can steal her lip shade (better than nothing, right?!). Makeup artist Pati Dubroff applied Dior Addict Lip Glow and then Rouge Dior Nude in Indiscrete #228, creating a barely-there pout. Somthing else that was barely-there? Her polish.

Stacy Keibler: To accent that silver beaded Naeem Khan gown, Deborah Lippmann created a ladylike metallic mani using a rose-gold lacquer called Glamorous Life.

Jenna Dewan-Tatum: Shockingly, the mom-to-be‘s candy-color look was one of the boldest of the night. “We wanted a statement lip, but kept it sheer so the look was fresh,” makeup artist Kayleen McAdams tells PEOPLE. McAdams applied two coats of Tarte’s LipSurgence lip tint in Moody to intensify the hue, and then smudged it.
