"Hunger Games" fans who also love Brooklyn Decker almost had the odds in their favor -- until they didn't. Decker, an actress and famed model, says she auditioned for a role in "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire," but didn't get the part.
"Not for the Katniss, but for a character in the second book that I loved," she said to Yahoo! blog omg. "I read the books in three days, and cried. I worshipped the books. I was like, 'I wanna be in the movie, I wanna do it.'"
What role Decker auditioned for is unclear, but it's possible she could have been talking about Johanna Mason. A past Hunger Games winner, Mason arrives in "Catching Fire" and immediately becomes a frenemy for Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence). Johanna has a fairly memorable introduction in Suzanne Collins' novel, stripping naked in front of Katniss and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) during an elevator ride. Jena Malone was cast as Johanna in "Catching Fire."
“I was bummed, but it is not going to stop me from seeing it on opening night,” Decker said.
"The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" is set for release on Nov. 22 -- without Decker.
