New Study Shows That Botox Is Not Just For Hollywood Glitterati

Lest you think that Botox is only for the ageless Hollywood glitterati and "Real Housewives" cast members, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons has just released their data from 2012 and -- guess what? -- we're just like celebrities.

Well, sort of.

According to the ASPS statistics, minimally-invasive facial rejuvenation procedures reached an all-time high last year. This marks the third year in a row that people have been shilling out big bucks to look smoother, younger and tighter, whether their weapon of choice be Botox, fillers, lasers or microdermabrasion.

Just to give you a bit of perspective, Botox injections increased by 8 percent with 6.1 million procedures performed -- the highest number to date. Microdermabrasion procedures also had an 8 percent increase, while soft tissue fillers and chemical peels saw a 5 and 2 percent increase, respectively.

Stars like Kelly Ripa, Jennifer Aniston and Courtney Cox have proudly proclaimed that they've relied on Botox and fillers to keep them looking fresh (and apparently smelling fresh), so why shouldn't the average lady do the same? Of course, there are celebs who've confessed regrets about getting the procedure done. Nicole Kidman recently revealed that she did try plastic surgery but has given it up so that she can "finally move [her] face again." Um, ouch?

So how do you like that for a "just like us" revelation? Instead of stars pumping gas or going to the grocery store, we real people are utilizing the same beauty tools as the pros. Just make sure that you don't end up with a frozen face situation like Nicole...

Click over to the ASPS website to see the rest of their findings.
