Sure, Naomi Watts‘ new look is most likely a wig for her latest film The Bleeder, which she co-stars in with her partner Liev Schreiber, but when the Australian actress known for her impeccable flaxen locks suddenly shows up on your Instagram feed as a bonafide glam ginger, it’s hard not to take notice.

Her latest film will take place in the sixties, following the life of heavyweight boxer Chuck Wepner, with Watts playing the pugilist’s wife, Linda. Today marks the first day of shooting for The Bleeder, and to begin her transformation into the role the actress threw on a fur coat and deep auburn wig, complete with feathered bangs and curls that spilled just past her shoulder.

The A-list actress cheekily played coy in her caption for the shot, writing “You lookin’ at me?” as though anyone could help but take notice of her sudden, overnight beauty transformation. The deep red color of the new do really makes her fair skin and blue eyes pop, making us think perhaps Naomi’s soul has actually been a fiery redhead this whole time.
