Miley Cyrus has been making the case for Y2K fashion lately. Her bleached shag with dark brown undertones is straight out of the Myspace era, and she was spotted on the streets of New York this past weekend in leopard prints and a lingerie-inspired mini dress. On "Late Night With Seth Meyers" on May 16, she paid homage to the early 2000s again in a vintage Alexander McQueen dress made of 100% silk.
The McQueen piece, which initially debuted on the 2004 runway, features a midi-length, bias cut silhouette and a scalloped hem. Its original design had cape-like flutter sleeves Cyrus opted not to include. Instead, spaghetti straps dawned from ruched cup details accented by a bow in the center of the bodice. A silk cowl draped over the fitted corset details, adding a modest touch to the sultry dress. With the help of her stylist Bradley Kenneth, she styled the ultra classic vintage gown with a diamond tennis necklace and minimalist nude heels. Her look struck a balance between feminine and rock and roll, with her exposed arm tattoos and edgy hair.
Trends aside, it seems Cyrus has come into her own fashion style. From catsuits to sparkling sets, she often blends rock and roll garments with a feminine sensibility, and her recent getup was no exception. Before her appearance on "Late Night With Seth Meyers," the former "Plastic Hearts" artist was spotted in another stunning vintage look: a black John Galliano minidress and fishnet tights after her "Saturday Night Live" appearance on May 14th.
