Meryl Streep is nothing if not a legend in Hollywood -- and her red carpet looks aren't so bad either! The 63-year-old actress is a veteran of press lines and photo opps, and The Iron Lady actress certainly knows what gowns suit her best.
Though she is not a brand loyalist the way the younger Tinsel town set might be, Streep's signature look is simple and classic -- elegant updos, clean colors and cinched waists.

In 2009, Streep was up for a Best Actress Oscar for her role in mystery drama Doubt. And though she didn't ultimately walk away with the prize (Kate Winslet took home the trophy for her role in The Reader), the actress' Alberta Ferretti gown was a winner. She paired the look with a metallic clutch and minimal jewels for an extra touch of class.
The next year, Streep was once again up for a Best Actress award, this time for her titular role in culinary masterpiece Julie & Julia. She lit up the red carpet with a bright white Chris March gown that was unmistakably Meryl -- a floor-length gown with fitted sleeves and a plunging neckline for a bit of sass.

Streep's losing streak finally ended in 2012, when the actress took home the top honors for her leading role in The Iron Lady, and her red carpet gown generated plenty of buzz as well. The actress went full-throttle with a shimmery gold lame Lanvin gown that dipped low in the front and draped in all the right places.
