Louise Roe Blogs From Fashion Week: I Think I See Some Oscar Gowns!

‘Fashion Star’ host, style MVP and all-around awesome person Louise Roe flew from L.A. to N.Y.C. to take in some shows — and share very exciting news! She blogged about her experience Wednesday for PEOPLE Stylewatch.

I land in freezing New York late at night after a quick trip to London, and am up early to shoot a trends video for Maybelline, in Brooklyn. No shows yet! I wear some awesome pink embellished trousers from hot new designer Bibhu Mohaparta and carry my acid yellow studded bag, from my new Spring line for Stylistpick [top right].

Next up, it’s a bunch of meetings — including meeting the delightful and welcoming team at PEOPLE StyleWatch [Ed note: She was very delightful herself!] — before a quick change into a red lace Marchesa dress, ready for a party hosted by Style Network.

Betsey Johnson cartwheels down the little runway after a fashion show at the bash, and then we make the exciting announcement that [makeup artist] Jeannie Mai and I [below left] will be hosting Style’s first ever live show, called Pop Style, starting this spring. It’s going to be cheeky and chic!

The next morning the sun is out and I dress in head-to-toe bright print [top left] to watch Bibhu Mohaparta’s show. Inspired by Man Ray’s muses in the ’30s, Lee Miller and Kiki de Montparnasse, there is an epic rust coat, high-waisted mustard trousers and a killer cream sequin flapper dress.

I’m seeing winter brights all over the runway and loving it: teal, burgundy, camel and olive green. Rachel Zoe sends out knee-high boots and leather trousers inspired by ’70s equestrian style. The Maybelline makeup is an oxblood-stained lip, or as Rachel called it, a ‘bad-ass lip.’ I sit next to [model/designer] Erin Wasson at the show [above right], and we both love what we see.

Next up is the fairytale of all fashion shows: Marchesa. Held at New York’s Public Library, I’m sitting next to the stunning Lake Bell, and Miley Cyrus is further down the row.

We swoon over the intricate gold thread embroidery, fishtail tulle skirts and architectural corsets on the beyond decadent gowns. There’s a red and a fuchsia one that I bet will make an appearance at the Oscars red carpet next week!

Below, check out two more shots from Louise’s POV — and stay tuned for her second NYFW diary installment tomorrow!
